Commercial Manager Smyths Daleside Feeds

Milling since 1865 Smyths Daleside are the leading manufacturer of animal feed in the Northwest of Ireland. We now invite applications for the following permanent position at our Ballindrait mill. The Role: Working in conjunction with the General Manager the Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing the Smyths Daleside sales and technical team to deliver a strategy to increase market share in existing markets and maximise new business development opportunities. • To lead, manage and motivate a team of sales/technical professionals to maintain and develop business with existing and new customers; • To assume responsibility for all feed (ruminant, horse, pig & poultry) and fertiliser sales within the business; • Research and develop a product range that meets the needs of the marketplace, supported by the relevant technical expertise; • Maintain and develop existing and new customer relationships through planned individual account support, including key retail accounts, merchants accounts, buying groups and agents; • To maintain, utilise and further develop the Smyths Daleside online customer relationship management system in conjunction with the wider Fane Valley Group; • Manage reporting of relevant management and financial information for all sales and marketing related activity, with an annual budget in place; • Drive profitability through increasing sales & controlling costs whilst maintaining company operating standards. The Person: • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline; • Knowledge and awareness of the agricultural industry in Ireland; • Minimum of 5 years’ commercial experience with ability to demonstrate significant achievement in same; • Experience of leading/managing a sales team and building and maintaining key customer relationships; • Experience of introducing new processes and managing change; • Experience of developing and implementing budgets and team/ employee KPI’s and performance appraisals; • Able to demonstrate business acumen and commercial focus; • An enthusiastic, energetic, positive, person with strong interpersonal, IT, communication, presentation and leadership skills.
